The Dating Game, Indian Style Online review from https://mimisculturecorner.wordpress.com/2018/09/10/a-peek-at-the-movies-at-the-dc-south-asian-film-festival-dcsaff/

Looking for Mr. Right is a playful look at a serious topic — the Indian-American dating scene, where finding someone suitable is often a frustrating exercise and a growing problem for the traditionalists who want to marry within the community.

Tara — single, pretty and accomplished — is under the gun to find the right partner. She is pushing 30 and her parents are on her case. So reluctantly she goes to mixers and on blind dates, complaining that her mom put her profile up on Shaadi.com with her prom picture (sheesh, the agony!!)

Good friend Rohan commiserates with her as his parents keep nagging him too, little realizing he is gay and looking elsewhere.

Tara’s dating encounters are often amusing. One date asks her if she is an ABCD and she retorts — “That sounds like a disease.” Another date moves away in disdain when he finds out she works for a non-profit (he, of course, is working for consulting behemoth McKinsey).

She finally has a date with a doctor that turns out to be promising and will meet that all-important parental approval. Is this the one?

Suneeta Misra directs the movie short with a deft touch and a crisp script sprinkled with humor and political asides. Isha Misra does a charming job with her ready repartee and Omi Vaidya is perfect as the good friend.
